Sustainable FF&E Procurement

We can help you make your project’s FF&E procurement more sustainable and advise on the environment and social impact of the project by looking into the supply chain and starting conversations with suppliers, while taking costs into consideration.

Providing you with lower impact options and adequate knowledge I can encourage positive decision making. Starting with an overview of supply chain/life cycle of the FF&E, I provide you with an initial document to review specifications and make improvements. This will be an evolving document with regular updates. At the same time, I can assist in the specification process by specifying with a lower impact with aesthetics in mind.

Some of the things we take into consideration

Health & wellbeing

Sustainable interiors can boost health and wellbeing, improving the mood, productivity and health of people living or using the space. Hotel owners can improve the comfort of guests and their staff. Hai Spaces will check if a product contains toxic materials or chemicals, at the VOC content or how should the product be cleaned and maintain and if there is any toxic material involved. Lighting, air quality, noise, materials and health and wellbeing of suppliers are things we will take into consideration.

Energy consumption

We look into energy efficiency and energy comsumption of the FF&E. This will benefit buyers and hotel owners with lower utility bills. Suggesting green technologies when possible, and looking at the lighting, appliances and electronic devices with energy efficiency in mind. This will impact the buildings overall energy use. Examples are smart lighting systems or water saving fixtures.

Longevity

Durable and high quality FF&E is not only sustainable, it’s also cost saving. Avoiding frequent updates and repairs is crucial and less expensive. We can ensure buildings, machinery and finishes perform optimally and for longer.

Product lifecycle

The product lifecyle refers to the stages an item goes through from its initial purchase, through usage and maintenance. Hai Spaces will evaluate the environmental impact at each phase and identify opportunities to improve sustainability.

Reduce/reuse/recycle

Using items like recycled plastic or glass can reduce the need for raw materials but also gives a second life to products that might otherwise end up in landfill. Recycled materials can often come with a unique aesthetic, adding character to the design scheme.

Materials

Material specification has a huge impact on procurement with sustainability in mind. Every material has a different origin, application and impact, and Hai Spaces can guide you making healthier choices, considering the whole story of the material. We can request certifications to the suppliers to make sure th etimber used comes from responsibly managed forests or source suppliers that use locally sourced wood or reclaimed timber.
